On July 12, 2022, I was interviewed on Black Authors Matter TV about In Audre's Footsteps: Transnational Kitchen Table Talk, a book I published with Dana Maria Asbury and Jazlyn Tate Andrews.
In Audre’s Footsteps, the 7th edition of Ingeborg Bachmann Prize-winner Sharon Dodua Otoo’s Witnessed Series, amplifies the resistive and generative experiences of Black and women of color intellectuals in Berlin and the U.S., examining how they resist oppression and navigate the always advantageous but sometimes contentious contours of solidarity. The book is particularly accessible for a wide range of audiences in that it uniquely features 7 chapters transcribed from “kitchen table” conversations with friends of Audre Lorde, co-founders and current leaders of the first grassroots activist organization for Black German women, the author of the first single-authored book by a Black person in Germany, and more.
Black Authors Matter TV is a weekly, live-streamed program where authors (new and old), publishers, bookstore owners, book club facilitators, book marketers, and other movers and shakers in the African-American literature arena are interviewed. BAM TV is live-streamed every Tuesday on the National Black Book Festival's Facebook page from 7PM to 9PM CT.
