Basic cutting tools:
Paper scissors
Fabric scissors and shears
Utility knives
Rotary blades

(0:11) Step 1 - We'll start with paper and fabric scissors. Since paper can dull the scissor blades, make sure you keep a separate pair of scissors or shears especially for fabric.

(0:20) Step 2 - Fabric scissors are great for cutting out patterns, even those pesky curved lines.

(0:34) Step 3 - Small, sharp scissors work well for notching and trimming excess thread.

(0:44) Step 4 - Try a rotary blade when cutting long strips of fabric. They work well even when you have multiple layers. Remember to use a mat underneath!

(0:56) Step 5 - For a more detailed paper project, try a utility knife.

(1:06) Step 6 - For ordinary paper projects, good old-fashioned paper scissors will do the trick!
