Описание: I drove to Santa Monica on Thursday, 1/23/2025, after a business meeting in Montclair, to investigate the fire related damage to structures on the outskirts of the Pacific Palisades fire. The main culprit was a lack of appropriate vegetation control, but it was also clear that buildings with today's required codes survived much better than the older wood framed structures. It is a tribute to the improved performance of buildings that meet current codes, and also suggests that such building and fire codes will be mandated more broadly so owners can obtain insurance.
