While visiting Burnt Peak a few months earlier, I had the opportunity to also visit Sawtooth Mountain. Such an effort would have doubled my hiking effort on the day. Instead, I felt time would be better spent by visiting Sawtooth Mountain on its own day. Now that I have done that, I am pleased that I made that decision. I was glad that I tackled the firebreak on a cooler day than on the Burnt Peak day. There is also a great deal of climbing on the firebreak, more than enough to round out a day of hiking. Naturally, I had to visit to myself, and also not experiencing another visitor on the trail or road.
