This is a 6mm hoop, our smallest one, and it can be challenging to put it in the first time. Here is the full process of how to open/close, take in/out, even all the hard parts—without damaging your hoop or irritating your ear.
Gently twist the ends of the hoop away from each other, at the base of the hoop. Thread one end through your ear, until the hoop ends are far enough through the piercing that you can grasp both the ends. To avoid a gap, as you twist the ends back together, twist them TOWARDS each other. Don't be afraid to push the ends past each other, working the ends back and forth until they line up. Then thread the hoop through your piercing until the seam of the hoop is not visible (behind the ear cartilage).
