• India to Bharat team has visited four most ancient Shiva temples in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh.
• #Panchvaktra- Dedicated to the Lord Shiva, and located at the meeting point of river Beas and Suketi, this temple is around 500 years old.
• Built in the splendid Shikhara architecture style, Panchvaktra temple architecture is spell-binding, which typifies the architectural credentials of the sculptors of those times.
• Inside the sanctum sanctorum lies Lord Shiva gigantic statue, with five faces that depict five forms of Lord Shiva,, inclduing Aghora, Ishana, Tat Purusha, Vaamdeva and Rudra.
• The second temple on our itinerary was again 500 years Shiva temple named #Trilokinath. Built in 1520, made by queen Sultana Devi, wife of Ajber Sen, this temple is connected via Victoria Bridge and is located entirely opposite to the Panchvaktra temple.
• Inside the sanctorum lies the statue of Lord Shiva with his consort Parvati with their vahana Nandi bull.
• Baba Ekadash Rudra Mandir- Located near near Victoria Bridge in Mandi Town, this temple is Lord Rudra with Ekadash (Eleven) Rudras means 11 Pindis established in the sanctum sanctorum.
• The monsoon season sees a special event in the temple as 24 hours continuous ‘Om Namah Shivaya’ chanting is done by people who come in the pair of 24 to keep the chanting chain unbroken for around one month.
• #Mahamrityujanya Mandir- This old temple of Mandi worships Shiva in which the lord is shown in the three eyed form at this temple sitting on the lotus. It is believed that baba changes his facial countenance five times in a day as per the observance of the devotees who come at this temple to pay their obeisance.
