Changing of the Guard in Sweden - Life Guards & Mounted Band 🇸🇪🐴

Описание: The Changing of the Guard Parade by horse starts from the Cavalry Barracks (Kavallerikasern) at 11.35 (an hour later on Sundays and some special occasions), where the New Guard parade and gets inspected. The Band and New Guard marches off to the Royal Palace in Stockholm, where they enter at 12.15 to start the Changing of the Guard Ceremony. The Ceremony takes around 40 minutes and the Band plays a concert while the Sentries are changing.

The King’s Guard in Stockholm has been a proud tradition since 1523, with over 500 years of continuous service protecting the Swedish Monarch. The duty was originally carried out by the Guard Regiments based in Stockholm, but since the 1960s, units from Regiments, Flotillas, and Wings across the country have taken turns contributing to this time-honoured task.

From April to September, the King's Battalion of the Life Guards — easily recognized by their striking blue tunics — is primarily responsible for the King's Guard. Up to 40 times a year, visitors can enjoy the grand spectacle of the Mounted Guards from the Colonel's Squadron, accompanied by a mounted band parading through the city in full regalia and a total of around 40 horses.

The Mounted Guards at the Royal Palace, in their current form, have been taking place since 1906. Prior to that, the Horse Guards would escort the King, a duty that is still carried out by the Colonel's Squadron. The horses are owned by the Association for the Horse Guards (Föreningen för den Beridna Högvakten), which was established in 1987 and currently has over 20,000 contributing members. The Troopers are fully operational soldiers of the King's Battalion (Livbataljonen) and the Colonel's Squadron (Livskvadron) at the Life Guards (Livgardet).
