Mechanical biological treatment MBT of municipal solid waste MSW offers a high flexibility in input, process targets and thoughput of the waste treatment plants. It is also appropriate for small and decentral facilities. MBT can produce a wide variety of output products depending on the plant input and the details of the chosen MBT process. These output fractions could be for example compost like output (CLO), biogas (produced by anaerobic digestion AD / methanation of the organic waste components), refuse derived fuel RDF /SRF, clean washed minerals, metals, plastics and other recyclables.
