As extreme cold and winter weather impacted much of Southeast Texas, Entergy officials say preparation and infrastructure investments helped keep power disruptions limited during the storm.

In this interview, Entergy leaders explain how crews began preparing more than a week in advance by activating storm teams, inspecting power generation facilities, substations, transmission lines, and distribution systems. While some ice-related outages occurred in northern areas, most customers saw power restored quickly, with crews working around the clock.

Entergy also emphasized its commitment to customer safety, noting that no planned power shutoffs were conducted during the cold snap. Officials addressed concerns about prolonged freezing temperatures, offered tips for energy use during extreme cold, and encouraged customers to use the Entergy app and social media for real-time outage updates.

The conversation also highlights why Entergy customers in Southeast Texas are not on the ERCOT grid, instead operating within the MISO grid, allowing the utility to remain vertically integrated and invest directly in power generation and reliability.
