A 14,000-year-old wolf puppy's stomach rewrites extinction science.

Scientists extracted woolly rhino DNA from partially digested tissue and discovered the species was genetically PERFECT—robust diversity, no inbreeding, strong population health.
So why did it vanish?

Rapid climate change (Bølling-Allerød warming) transformed grassland to forest faster than evolution could respond. The rhino didn't fail genetically. It ran out of compatible habitat.
The terrifying lesson: Today's endangered rhinos (Javan less than 80, Sumatran less than 80) face the same threat. Genetic health ≠ survival guarantee when environments change too fast.
This is paleogenomics meeting conservation reality.
