I was told that the Battenkill Railroad would be running up to the Pan Am interchange in Eagle Bridge, NY. They would also be picking up Southen New England 5015, an Alco RS-36. I woke up early and made the three-hour drive out to Salem, NY. I chased the train from CaroVail in Salem up to Eagle Bridge and back. They used the BKRR 4116, an Alco RS-3 to pull the train. It was built for the Deleware & Hudson Railroad. The 5015 was also built for the D&H. The Battenkill Railroad is all exD&H trackage. I was glad to finally check this railroad off my bucket list as it's not easy to figure out when they are running. Chasing the Battenkill Railroad is like time traveling back to the 1960s and watching Alco switchers traverse countryside branch lines.
