Modern research suggests that individuals with neurodevelopmental conditions such as autism & ADHD have a significantly higher prevalence of joint hypermobility compared to the general population. One UK study found that over 50% of neurodivergent participants exhibited hypermobility, and another systematic review concluded that children with ADHD were hypermobile in 74% of cases, and individuals with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) had up to a seven-fold higher risk of autism.
