In the last battle, the scout of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Colonel Oleg Babii, destroyed 3 Russian Tu-22M3 bombers in the deep rear of the enemy.
In order to destroy Russian bombers, Ukrainian scouts covered more than 600 km of enemy territory on foot. Returning from the task, the reconnaissance group of Colonel Oleg Babii was ambushed.
Covering the departure of his comrades in arms, Oleg Babii was mortally wounded and died.
For his heroic feat, Oleg Babii was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine with the award of the "Golden Star" order. Posthumously.
