Science Secretary Liz Kendall says the UK government is "clear-eyed” about its relationship with China ahead of the prime minister’s three-day visit to the country.
Speaking to the Today programme, Kendall said the government has made clear that “national security comes first” and topics like human rights abuses will be raised at the summit with China’s President Xi Jinping, but the UK "should work with China” on issues like the economy and technology.
Keir Starmer's visit marks the first time a UK prime minister has visited the country since 2018.
