In today’s court session, several defendants appeared before the judge for different felony matters, including plea agreements, probation reviews, and case resets.

Germaine Duhan pleaded guilty to the third-degree felony offense of obstruction or retaliation. The court confirmed that his plea was entered freely and voluntarily, and that he understood the consequences, including waiving his right to appeal and restrictions on firearm possession. Christopher Bushnell, a 17-year-old defendant, faced charges including evading arrest with a vehicle and engaging in organized criminal activity. Although plea agreements had been arranged for deferred probation, the judge rejected them after reviewing 21 jail incident reports detailing behavioral violations. The court emphasized the seriousness of the offenses and reset the case for review in 30 days, warning that continued misconduct could lead to a prison sentence of up to 20 years.

In another case, a probationer faced revocation for violations but was granted another opportunity. The judge ordered participation in both the ISF cognitive program and the JCDI drug treatment program, stressing accountability and warning of zero tolerance for future violations.

Finally, Lawrence Marks, charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, received a case reset to review a new plea offer and evidence before making a final decision.

The court emphasized personal responsibility, rehabilitation opportunities, and the serious consequences of continued criminal behavior.
