Le’garde is a near one to one copy of Griffith from Berserk. We see this in their backstories, ambitions, and character arcs and you can even see Le’garde’s design has some hints of Griffith in it. In the world of Berserk, Griffith is the leader of a mercenary group called the Band of the Hawk, and Griffith’s true goal lies in wanting to get his own Kingdom one day. The mercenary group rose to fame within the kingdom of Midland due to their success in battles and they eventually won the favor of the King who accepted them as knights after a large victory. However, their success was short lived as in a moment of weakness, Griffith slept with the Princess, was caught, and was sent to the pits of the dungeons to be tortured for months. Additionally, the band of the hawk was attacked by the kingdom of Midland and largely disbanded apart from a few members who rallied together in order to save Griffith from the dungeons. He is eventually rescued, but it is revealed Griffith is part of a larger prophecy to become a member of the Godhand, a group of ultra-powerful demonic entities, and he ascends to become one of them. This story will sound incredibly familiar to anyone who has played fear and hunger as it’s mirrored in Le’garde’s story. Just as with Griffith, Le’garde is the leader of the Knights of the Midnight Sun who wants to create a unifying kingdom and is known as the prophesied one by the new gods. The knights of the Midnight sun become notorious throughout the Kingdom of Rondon for their deeds and Rondon sought to have them be an asset until Le’garde slaughtered the people of Oldegard in order to retrieve the Cube of the Depths. This caused Rondon to turn on Le’garde and destory the knights of the midnight sun after which he was captured, imprisoned, and tortured in the Dungeons of Fear and Hunger. D’arce, as one of the last remaining members of the mercenary group, set out to Rescue Le’garde from the dungeons. However, his rescue led him to delve deeper in the dungeons where he found his true goal, the golden throne. Sitting upon it, Le’garde fulfilled his prophecy and ascended to become the Yellow King, a new god of great power who aims to bring a new unified age upon the world of man. In Fear and Hunger 2, we see the Yellow King again, who has now become the Kaiser, a much more violent version who uses war in order to achieve his goal of creating the machine god which will create an entire new world for man. This version of Le’garde is very similar to Griffith’s God Hand form, Femto, who later in the series uses means to fuse the normal and astral worlds of berserk literally bringing a new age to humanity.
