Station Express - Ep.49

We have officially finished up our second round of station works!! 🐄🌵🍻

Firstly we just want to thank all the wonderful people we have met over the last few weeks. Its been great catching up with old friends and making new friends. We've loved all the late night conversations, hilarious moments and countless uno games. 😉

During our 8 week stint we gained lots of new experiences and stories; Amz tried her first bit of camel meat and is still the reigning quarters 'pool queen' 🎱, Kurt was in heaven having beef every night and a little sad his favourite thongs were eaten by dingos🤦🏻‍♂️. Rusty loved the outback freedom on our afternoon walks and was super excited at every kangaroo she saw🐕.

We got honored on one station by having poddy calves named after us. Well the calf named Kurt, had to be changed to Kurt-evie once they released it was a girl😂. We also set a new work record, we hit 3 underground services in under 20minutes with the digger (water, power & fuel). 🤷🏻‍♀️

Some of our memorable moments were;
when an overseas station hand calmly told us over breakfast, that he had lost a sock down the handbasin sink. Apparently it just "sucked it down" never to be seen again. 🌪🤷🏻‍♂️
A pet horse named Dolly had gone MIA for a few weeks, the owners eventually found it a good trek away. Dolly refused to be ridden, so the owner walked it 20km back to the homestead. Yes WALKED! 🚶🏻‍♀️🐎
We found out its not easy to wash your pet donkey. 'Elvis' didn't seem to be a fan of bath time 🛁

In all seriousness though, we still truly have such high appreciation and respect for the station owners and workers out there. The remoteness & lifestyle is definitely not for everyone. 👏🏼

As for now, we are in Alice for a few days to do a mega clean out and sort ourselves out before our trek north. Amz also has a few videos to catch up on, so stay tuned on our YouTube channel! 🎥⭐️
