Powering the Yamaha R15 V4 is a 155cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled 4-valve engine with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA). It generates 18.4PS and 14.2Nm. It is paired to a six-speed gearbox with a slip and assist clutch. VVA technology helps in maintaining a good balance of low-end grunt and top-end drive. While the Deltabox frame remains the same, the R15 V4 features a USD fork and link-type monoshock suspension setup. Braking is taken care of by a 282mm front disc with a twin-piston caliper and a 220mm rear disc with a single-piston caliper. The R15 V4 rolls on 17-inch alloys shod with a 100/80 bias-ply front and 140/70 rear radial tyres.

Yamaha R15 V4 Variants

The Yamaha R15 V4 is available in standard variant and the M variant which gets an exclusive paint scheme, golden brake caliper, a special seat and the inclusion of a quickshifter. The M variant is also available in the 2022 Monster Energy MotoGP paint scheme.


Yamaha R15 V4 Design

The design language of the Yamaha R15 V4 is inspired by Yamaha’s R series. Instead of the dual LED headlight setup, it features a bi-LED headlight flanked by LED DRLs on either side. With the updated side fairings, the drag coefficient has reduced from 0.307 to 0.293, making it even more aerodynamic than before. That said, the rear section of the bike continues to be the same as the R15 V3.

Yamaha R15 V4 Features

The Yamaha R15 V4 comes packed with a new LCD instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity via the Yamaha Y-Connect app. It displays call/SMS alerts, phone battery status and even a lap timer. That said, the console misses out on turn-by-turn navigation. Yamaha has equipped the bike with two display modes: Street and Race. In addition to that, the R15 comes with segment-first features such as traction control and quickshifter, available on select variants.

There are no direct rivals for the Yamaha R15 V4 in the Indian market, but at this price, you can also opt for the KTM RC 125, Bajaj Pulsar RS200, and the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250.
