DPWH chief Dizon appeals to bicam: Restore budget cuts brought by material price reduction

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon appeals to the bicameral conference committee to restore the amounts deducted from their proposed 2026 budget due to reductions in the Construction Materials Price Data (CMPD). If granted, Dizon said the DPWH will be responsible for applying the lower CMPD from the Program of Works instead of the Senate's across-the-board cut. A DPWH department order currently requires regional directors and district engineers to apply these lower material costs, and these must be approved by the central office before they can proceed with procurement.
