Описание: What do you do when you feel the judge is not listening to you? Hi, I'm Eric Strocen. I'm an attorney in Muskogee, Oklahoma. I think this is an important topic to talk to you about today.

At times I go to court, and I see people representing themselves all the time who want to get their point across but have not identified the appropriate times, mannerisms, or etiquette necessary to get the judge's ear.

One important thing that should go without saying is while that judge is talking, you should not be talking. You should not even be moving. I know judges around the smaller counties aren't as strict about that. But when the judge is speaking, everyone's listening.

You're not going to get your point across by raising your voice, speaking over the judge, or showing your distaste for what they're saying by expressing it through your body language. Making the judge feel disrespected does not do anything to further your interest. It could hinder it severely, and you need to be very careful.

What's important to know is that we lawyers have it beaten into us on how to behave in court. When you go in front of a judge, it just does not make sense for you to show up without good representation because you're emotional.
