Quarry Bank is one of the best preserved mills from the Industrial Revolution. It was founded in 1784 and watered powered from the River Bollin. The estate surround the mill is the most complete and least altered industrial complex in the country. Samuel Greg, who owned Quarry Bank Mill, built the Styal estate village in the 18th century to house his workforce. The village is still a thriving community today and a commuter village for Manchester.
