Highguard faced massive backlash from the audience at launch and almost exactly repeated Concord’s fate. The main issues are its lack of originality, pacing problems, and overly complicated mechanics. Pretty much everyone criticized the game — which is why I’m more interested in something else: what happened to all those PvP multiplayer games that used to offer deep, complex systems? And is there really no place left for them in the modern gaming industry?
