Wild Atlantic salmon are facing unprecedented threats, from rising river temperatures to pollution, predation, and barriers along their migration routes. But by making small changes to how we fish, we can give them the best possible chance to survive, spawn, and return again.
This short film, produced by Castabroad Collective for Fisheries Management Scotland, in collaboration with a range of partners as part of delivering Scotland’s Wild Salmon Strategy, shows how simple adjustments — like keeping fish submerged, using the right tackle, choosing the right conditions, and avoiding unnecessary handling — can give this iconic species the best possible chance to survive and spawn.
Join anglers across Scotland who are leading the way in protecting one of nature’s greatest treasures. Every fish you safely release today helps safeguard this precious species for the next generation to appreciate.
