In this short tutorial, I have outlined a step-by-step guide on how to make a reversible tote bag with a zipper using upcycled denim. This DIY denim tote bag can be used from both the denim side and the lining side, making it a versatile, sustainable, and stylish everyday bag.
Important – watch till the end!
While completing the bag, I encountered a real sewing challenge:
Although the bag is reversible, I realized you need two separate sets of handles (one for the denim side and one for the lining side) in order to fully use the zipper from either side.
As it stands, the zipper works when the denim side is facing out.
At the end of the video, I explain how to fix this and how to install a second set of handles so the zipper can be closed from the lining side as well.
