No matter how spiritual, esthetic, creative, beautiful, funny, happy or bohemian you are, you live in a capitalist world ruled by money.

You must pay your way for the rest of your life one way or another.

Most of us aren’t born rich nor will we marry rich so we have to figure out how to earn money, save it and invest it while not being so materialistic that it’s all about greed (one of the seven deadly sins) or boring like people who spend their free time investing in stocks and otherwise thinking up ways to make more money and increase their material wealth.

To me, there are two levels of money.

One is that I make enough to pay my bills to live in modest comfort, having a lot of free time to do what I want to do.

The second level is the fantasy level where a person has a billion dollars or so. They can buy a big yacht or a hundred acres of land then build a mansion and an estate but in truth life is lived in your head. If I go for a walk or swim on any given day, do some exercises then some creative things, that’s a good day. It doesn’t matter if I lay my head in a humble abode or a mansion. Happiness comes by releasing the spirit.

I’ve seen the remains of Pablo Ecobar’s estate. I’ve seen other big estates and dormant mansions. Society gives us the idea of luxury, that a big mansion and five cars enhance happiness.

Almost nobody has studied economics and was exposed to the law of diminishing marginal returns which is that one car or one house is good but when you get the second, the happiness level you get from it is not that big. When you get your third, it goes down some more and keeps going down.

People put themselves in debt getting a second mortgage for a summer house that they barely use. Rent a hotel room for a week.

It’s the craziness of a capitalist especially with all the easy credit around.

Learn enough about money so that you have enough to enjoy your life while not constantly being burdened by it.

Money is not that complicated once you understand it. The knowledge is basic.

They got several TV networks dedicated to stocks.

To the uninitiated, it seems complicated but you can learn it within a weekend.

Financial advisors thrive on their phony mystique, pretending they know deep, advanced things that can help you make money but if they did, that would be illegal. Advanced knowledge of stock movements is called insider trading.

Accountants and tax experts can help you save on taxes but many are lazy. They won’t take the time to maximize your savings on taxes.

If you want a hard lesson in investing, watched the CNBC show American Greed.

Investing is mostly a sucker’s game because no matter what, there is always a so-called correction or crash in the stock market where all your gains and then some are wiped out in a day or two.

Once you reach a certain age, you realize it’s better to live simply and have peace of mind than to be constantly worried about how your stocks and funds are doing.

My goal is to help you understand money, save it and keep a hold of it because many con-artists want a piece of it including the government which has the income tax which I’m against because a sovereign nation has the power to create its own money. It doesn’t have to borrow it.
