Ring Pour Technique | Water and Paint Only | Acrylic Pouring

Описание: I've been exploring fluid art techniques, so today I'm learning how to do an acrylic tree ring pour. Using the same color palette from my previous dutch pour (which you can view here    • The most AMAZING Color Palette! Acrylic Po...  ).

Honestly, I find it easier to use previous color palettes that worked when trying new acrylic pouring techniques. It removes one challenge from the learning process. It's hard enough trying to determine paint consistencies and how to manipulate the acrylic paint as it flows across the canvas!

Since this was my first attempt at an acrylic ring / swirl type pour I have some key takeaways to add to my fluid art tool box.

You have to watch the entire canvas when tilting .... every movement has a cascade effect. As you tilt something off the canvas you don't like, you could lose something that you love (isn't that a great metaphor for life ?).

I should have painted all my edges to ensure full coverage before I started pouring my paint. I found that while I was tilting the paint sometimes I was distracted, worrying about my edges that I lost sight of the bigger composition.

I need to take my time when tilting, the paint will take a long time to dry, so no rush. I can stop tilting and assess the composition at any point before I make the mistake and tilt off something I may later regret.

Hopefully you watched to the end to see the series of the five little canvas tree ring pours that I titled 'Creation'. I love the story they tell.

I still have some more fine tuning as far as how much paint I pour onto the canvas especially if I want some negative space but enough so that I don't overstretch the paint!

My paints are all Amsterdam Acrylics Standard Series mixed with water to the right consistency which for this style of acrylic pouring is like warm honey (mound on a mound?)
