Here is a newly restored 1960 Fender Super (circuit 6G4) brownface guitar amp. This amp arrived at PTW Amps in a poorly serviced condition. The original cabinet had been chopped down into a head and the original speakers lost. The chassis dates from March 1960 -- very early into the Fender brownface period, and has the "Bass-Treble-Volume" reverse configuration on the control panel (found only on the earliest brownfaces).
This restoration preserves the original chassis and components, except for necessary recapping (all filter, bias, and bypass electrolytics replaced with Sprague Atoms capacitors). Most of the hardware from the original cab, including handle, corners, and logo, were preserved.
The cabinet is a newly constructed replica pine cabinet, based on the original specifications, with a baltic birch plywood baffle, and brown nubtex covering with oxblood grille cloth. The replacement speakers are a pair of 10-inch Eminence 1028K alnico speakers, wired in parallel for 4 ohms.
