About this video
Delhi-Dehradun Expressway : This expressway near Dehradun is fully ready for a thrilling journey while enjoying nature.
Its most attractive part is the 12 km long wildlife corridor. Which is Asia's longest wildlife corridor. This elevated road passing through hills and rivers surrounded by dense forests will make your travel experience wonderful. This corridor will also prove to be important in the protection of wildlife.
This expressway has also been named Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor. Two-wheelers can also be driven in this part.
There are many advantages from tunnel, elevated road, elephant underpass, bridge to sound barrier, but there are some negative effects too. 7,575 trees have been cut between Ganeshpur and Asharodi for the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway. 4,983 trees were cut in Uttarakhand and 2,592 trees in UP. NHAI claims that 1.76 lakh trees are being planted to compensate for this environmental loss. It has been argued that thousands of trees have been saved from being cut in this project. If the old road was widened instead of building an elevated road over the river, thousands more trees would have been cut in this section.
Before building the wildlife corridor, the Wildlife Institute of India (WII) located in Dehradun conducted a three-year study and suggested exact locations to NHAI. The elevated part of this expressway has also been made sound proof. Noise barriers have been installed in the entire elevated part, so that the sound and light of vehicles do not disturb the wildlife.
Apart from the 12 km elevated road, six animal underpasses, two elephant underpasses, two big bridges and 13 small bridges have been built in this section. The 12 km long elevated road is passing over about 600 piers. Only five km of the old road alignment has been kept. This expressway will also reduce the distance from Delhi to Dehradun. If we talk about this package part, the distance will be reduced by one kilometer. After the opening of the entire expressway, the distance from Dehradun to Delhi will be reduced by 23 kilometers and this journey can be completed in two and a half hours.
A new 210 km long expressway is being constructed between Delhi and Dehradun at an estimated cost of ₹13,000 Crore. It will cut the travel time in half.
The Delhi–Saharanpur–Dehradun Expressway is an under-construction 210 km long 12-lane (Delhi to EPE & 6-lane access controlled expressway in India with operational speed limit of 100 kmph (Designed for vehicular movement at 120 kmph) between Delhi and Dehradun. The Delhi–Saharanpur–Dehradun Expressway, also known as National Highway 709B (NH 709B), is an under-construction, 210 kilometres (130 mi) long, 12/6 lane access-controlled expressway, which will connect Delhi, the national capital of India, with Dehradun, the capital of the Indian state of Uttarakhand.
