After hanging up his banjo and settling in New York City, Erik Jacobsen set his sights on producing records. He started by writing songs and recording them with friends from the folk scene. His first release? “Bo Bo the Cheerleader Song,” under the alias Little Petie Love.
From surf rock to his dance craze, Erik experimented with sound and helped early groups like The Strangers and The Sellouts. He soon discovered Tim Hardin, recording blues tracks, and convinced John Sebastian to write and sing his first song—“Warm Baby.”
This episode captures Erik’s early days as a producer, laying the groundwork for future hits with Tim Hardin, The Lovin’ Spoonful, and more.
