Taipei City, Taiwan is situated in a basin surrounded by mountains, so there are many scenic trails that you can access directly from the heart of the city. One such trail network is the Four Beasts Mountain (Si-Shou Shan), easily accessible from Xiangshan MRT station on the Red Line. This time, Andre checks out one of Taipei’s most famous city hikes but takes a slightly easier (and quieter) path to Elephant Mountain (Xiangshan). Andre starts his hike at Yongchungang Park which can be reached by taking the MRT to Xiangshan Station and then bus 299 to Yongchun High School. From Yongchungang Park, Andre gets some amazing city views and takes in some unique highlights of this trail including A Thread of Sky and the Six Giant Rocks. He then moves on to Elephant Mountain Peak which boasts the best views of Taipei 101. He finishes this trail by exploring Yongchun Pavilion and another viewing area, the Fireworks Platform where he reflects on the hike.
