Welcome to SolvedIn6: Free practice problems for the Professional Engineering Exam! Each question is styled after those created by the NCEES, and is usually solved in under 6 minutes, which is the average time you will have to solve each question on the Professional Engineering Exam.
In this problem, we are given a conceptual question about footings in a cantilevered structure.
This problem only requires a basic understanding of statics to figure out. The location and direction of the forces will cause a rotational force in the clockwise direction. As such, we can see that the force in one footing (Footing 2) will be directed down. Additionally the force in Footing 1 will be directed upward, as the forces try to rotate the structure and force Footing 1 out of the ground.
