Walking amongst the dramatic, razor-sharp rock formations, it's easy to see how this place got it's name. Morte Point (literally meaning Death Point) has a rich history of wrecking and smuggling and this stretch of coast was once known as 'The Sailor's Grave'. One of the most notorious wrecker's was Elizabeth Berry, who it is thought to have lured ships on to the rocks with lights on her horse and then used her pitchfork to drown sailors. Despite it's grizzly past, this is a superb place to hike. We parked at Morthoe and walked the South West Coast Path around to Lee, with lunch at the lovely Grampus Inn.
