Quick case background
In 2024, former Sangamon County deputy Sean Grayson shot and killed 36-year-old Sonya Massey after she called 911 to report a prowler.
What happened at sentencing (today)
Grayson was sentenced to 20 years in prison (the maximum) after a second-degree murder conviction.
Judge Ryan Cadagin also imposed 2 years of mandatory supervised release after prison.
The judge said Grayson will get credit for the time he has already spent in jail.
