When the weapons officer falls, Worf steps forward without hesitation, assuming tactical control of the embattled battleship.

Aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise, Captain Jean-Luc Picard orders red alert as Starfleet sensors confirm additional hostile spaceships entering the fight. The political tension between the Federation and the Klingon Empire threatens to spill into open conflict.

On the damaged Bortas, disruptors fail and shields falter under heavy fire. Worf proposes a daring tactic—pretend to be crippled. If the enemy lowers shields to board, he can strike manually at point-blank range. Gowron approves. The gamble pays off: Worf destroys one enemy cruiser, though the second continues its assault.

Just as the Bortas faces destruction, Commander Kurn arrives in his own Klingon spaceship, decloaking dramatically and driving the attacker away. The skies clear, but the war has begun. Gowron summons Worf and Kurn to the Great Hall and invites the Enterprise delegation to witness his installation as leader—cementing a pivotal moment in the Star Trek universe.
