"Cime Tempestose": tra ROMANCE e FANFICTION

Come molti di noi avevano predetto, questo "Cime Tempestose" di Emerald Fennell si è mostrato per quello che è: un romance banale, ben lontano dalla profondità del classico che adatta.

Ma perché è andata così? Perché è stata sprecata un'ottima occasione di dare al romanzo di Brönte una veste nuova che però non fosse solo di facciata, ma lo fosse anche nella sostanza?

In questo video parlerò di come questo film si presenti come radicale e sovversivo, utilizzando cinque codici classici della fanfiction, ma senza comprenderne davvero il funzionamento e senza osare.

E, quando la “sovversione” diventa solo estetica, quando il discorso autoriale si incrina, escono film come questo.

As many of us had predicted, this “Wuthering Heights” by Emerald Fennell has revealed itself for what it is: a conventional romance, far removed from the depth of the classic it adapts.

But why did it turn out this way? Why was such a great opportunity wasted — the chance to give Brontë’s novel a new form that wasn’t merely superficial, but substantial?
