📖 THE ORIGIN OF EVIL
A King James Bible Teaching
INTRO
“Friends, today we’re going to answer a question that troubles many believers and unbelievers alike:
Where did evil come from?
And more importantly—did God create it?
We’re not going to philosophy.
We’re not going to theology books.
We’re going to the King James Bible alone, and we’re going to let God speak for Himself.”
1️ GOD IS NOT THE AUTHOR OF SIN
📖 Read:
James 1:13–17 (KJB)
“Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
Do not err, my beloved brethren.
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”
💬 Comment:
“Now stop there.
The Bible says God cannot be tempted with evil, and He tempteth no man.
So right away, if someone tells you God is the author of sin, they are contradicting Scripture.”
📖 Read:
1 John 1:5 (KJB)
“This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.”
💬 Comment:
“Not a little darkness.
No darkness at all.
So evil as sin does not originate in God.”
2️ LUCIFER — WHERE EVIL FIRST APPEARED
📖 Read:
Ezekiel 28:15 (KJB)
“Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.”
💬 Comment:
“Notice the wording.
God didn’t put iniquity into him.
It was found in him.
Lucifer was created perfect—and then he chose rebellion.”
📖 Read:
Isaiah 14:13–14 (KJB)
“For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God…
I will be like the most High.”
💬 Comment:
“Five times—I will.
That’s where evil begins: self-will above God’s will.”
3️ EVIL ENTERED HUMANITY BY CHOICE
📖 Read:
Genesis 1:31 (KJB)
“And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good.”
💬 Comment:
“Creation wasn’t flawed.
It wasn’t mixed.
It was very good.”
📖 Read:
Romans 5:12 (KJB)
“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”
💬 Comment:
“Sin entered—it wasn’t created.
It entered through disobedience.”
4️ THE VERSE PEOPLE STRUGGLE WITH
‘I CREATE EVIL’
Now let’s face it head-on.
📖 Read:
Isaiah 45:7 (KJB)
“I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.”
5️ RIGHTLY DIVIDING ISAIAH 45:7
💬 Comment (slow, clear):
“Now listen carefully.
If this verse means God creates sin, then it contradicts James, John, and Genesis.
But the Bible doesn’t contradict itself.
The word evil here is not moral wickedness—it is calamity, judgment, adversity.”
📖 Compare Scripture:
Amos 3:6 (KJB)
“Shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?”
💬 Comment:
“That’s not people sinning.
That’s judgment—plagues, war, famine, overthrow.”
📖 Another witness:
Lamentations 3:38 (KJB)
“Out of the mouth of the most High proceedeth not evil and good?”
💬 Comment:
“Again—context.
This is God responding to rebellion, not causing sin.”
6️ WHAT ISAIAH 45 IS ACTUALLY ABOUT
💬 Comment:
“Isaiah 45 is God speaking to Cyrus, a Gentile king.
The Lord is declaring His absolute authority over nations—peace and war, blessing and judgment.”
📖 Read:
Isaiah 45:5–6 (KJB)
“I am the LORD, and there is none else…
That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me.”
💬 Comment:
“God creates judgment.
God creates discipline.
But God does not create sin.”
7️ GOD USES EVIL — HE DOES NOT AUTHOR IT
📖 Read:
Genesis 50:20 (KJB)
“But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good…”
💬 Comment:
“They meant it for evil.
God overruled it for good.
That’s not authorship—that’s sovereignty without sin.”
8️ WHY EVIL CONTINUES TODAY (GRACE)
📖 Read:
2 Corinthians 5:19 (KJB)
“God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them…”
💬 Comment:
“This is why judgment hasn’t fallen yet.
God is offering grace.”
📖 Read:
Ephesians 6:12 (KJB)
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers…”
💬 Comment:
“We’re in enemy territory—but not without hope.”
9️ THE END OF EVIL
📖 Read:
Revelation 20:10 (KJB)
“And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone…”
💬 Comment:
“Evil has a termination date.”
CLOSING (spoken)
“So no—God did not create sin.
Evil began in rebellion.
God permits it for a season.
He uses it without becoming it.
And He will judge it completely.”
“If this helped you, share it.
Not to promote a man—
but to exalt the truth of God’s preserved Word.”
