Dr. Jason Hulme, DC, CCSP shares a story that may resonate with other clinicians. After discharging a young patient (Tony) who, by all accounts, was ready to be discharged, Dr. Hulme saw him at the grocery store with severely altered movements. Remember, one of the risk factors for a future musculoskeletal (MSK) injury is a previous musculoskeletal injury. In this case, Tony's low back pain was gone, but he was stuck with the altered function that impacted his ability to complete normal tasks like squatting down to grab something at the grocery store. After observing Tony in the grocery store, Dr. Hulme realized, "I've got to do something better."
