STORYLINE:
Aid trucks, carrying food, clean water, medicine and other badly needed supplies, took advantage of the pause in fighting and drove into northern Gaza on Sunday, where people have not received aid for weeks.

Meanwhile, columns of Palestinians were seen walking in the opposite direction south from Gaza City's devastated combat zone.

They walked along the dusty rubble-strewn Salah Al-deen street, some in wheelchairs and others with belongings piled on their heads and in their arms.

The pause has given some respite to Gaza's 2.3 million people, still reeling from relentless Israeli bombardment that has driven three-quarters of the population from their homes and levelled residential areas.

The cease-fire, brokered by Qatar and the United States, is the first extended break in fighting since the war began. Overall, Hamas is to release at least 50 Israeli hostages, and Israel 150 Palestinian prisoners. All are women and minors.
