Oberammergau is very near to Munich. But I highly recommend renteing a car because there are so many nearby towns that are so beautiful. You shoud make the most of it. But if you want, you can also go buy bus or train it's up to you. This place is totally worth visiting. It's super authentic Bavarian style. The buildings are cute and full of murals (called Lüftlmalerei), painted in the classic Bavarian style.
If you go in December, especially around Christmas, some of the shops will be closed. I'd say December is fine if you love snow. But I think going in the summer is even better because, according to the locals,almost every house has flowers, so the whole town becomes super colorful. Thank you for reading, and happy exploring!😍
