Queensland's homelessness crisis has been exposed by the recent emergency caused by ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred. Brisbane's Lord Mayor today announced rough sleepers living in so-called 'tent cities' will be given 24 hours notice to leave. Moreton Bay City Council also recently banned people sleeping in public parks, with a penalty of up to 8-thousand dollars.
While floodwaters are now receding earlier this week SBS World News reporter Alexandra Jones visited a heavily flooded tent city just south of Brisbane, in an area struggling to cope with limited housing supply and the cost of living crisis.
