Roblox is an online platform and game creation system that allows users to create, share, and play games made by other users. It was created by David Baszucki and Erik Cassel and officially launched on September 1, 2006. Roblox provides a sandbox-style environment where developers can use the Roblox Studio and its built-in coding language, Lua, to design their own games and experiences.

The platform features a vast variety of user-generated content, from role-playing games and simulators to first-person shooters and obstacle courses. Players can customize their avatars, trade virtual items, and use the in-game currency called Robux to buy accessories, game passes, and other digital goods.

Roblox has grown significantly over the years, attracting millions of players worldwide and becoming a major hub for both casual gamers and aspiring developers.

Nico's Nextbots (commonly stylized as nico's nextbots) is a Roblox horror game heavily inspired by Nextbot Chase, a gamemode played within Garry's Mod, where hostile PNGs or GIFs (known as nextbots) chase players through a given map to kill them, with the player's main objective being to survive for as long as possible.

The game went on to receive an expansive development crew from its growing popularity, consisting of numerous scriptwriters, designers, original music composers and more.

As of September 8th, 2024, Nico's Nextbots has gained upwards of 528,719,509 player visits; with many popular figures (both in and outside of the Roblox community) acknowledging the game and even playing it for themselves.
