When it comes to the idea behind this public service announcement video, Brandon Barton said he was inspired by the 'This Is Your Brain On Drugs' anti-narcotics campaign from back in the 80's and 90's for the visual aspect.
When coming up with the message, Barton tried to involve things he thinks are comedic, yet thoughtful. He really enjoy comedy involving playing with grammar like metaphors and hyperboles. Using the phrase “Don’t cook your skin” just seemed humorous to him since you can’t actually cook your skin like a steak.
