Описание: NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED - In early 1966 after successfully putting the New York based girl group, the Shangri-Las on the map with hit records on the Red Bird label beginning in the summer of 1964, producer/composer George 'Shadow' Morton formed a production company with Tony Michaels and Vinnie Gormann called 'Phantom Productions. Before Red Bird shuttered its doors for good by the end of the summer of 1966, one of the final sessions by the Shangri-Las would include the tune, 'Dressed In Black'. Composed by the three member production team and arranged by Artie Butler, the tune was issued as the flipside to 'He Cried' in March 1966. Issued that same month was another version of the song produced by Tony Michaels with an arrangement by Artie Butler that was recorded by the Pussycats and released on Columbia. One month later, the original backing track was used and issued by the Nu-Luvs on the Mercury label with the title, 'So Soft, So Warm' with production credit given to Phantom. Before any of these recordings were made, a demo version was recorded with the original backing track and 'Shadow' Morton providing a basic vocal of the melody which had a minimal amount of any lyrics. Never intending to be released, the track did eventually appear in a compilation LP from the UK in 1976 and on several re-issue Red Bird/Shadow Morton compilations since then.
