In Sikh history, the first imprisonment (or jail) was endured by Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. This incident occurred around 1520 CE when Babur invaded and massacred the people of Saidpur (now Eminabad, near Gujranwala in present-day Pakistan). Guru Ji was staying there (with Bhai Lalo) and was captured along with others by Babur's army. Thus, Guru Nanak Dev Ji became the first figure in Sikh history to face imprisonment, and later, through His teachings, even the emperor Babur had to bow down – realizing his mistake, he released all the prisoners.

This video covers how, in Sikh history, Guru Nanak Dev Ji gave teachings to Babur from inside his prison and guided him onto the path of truth. Guru Ji condemned Babur's atrocities in the Babar Bani hymns and prayed for justice in the name of the One Creator. Even in jail, Guru Ji continued singing kirtan and prayers, which deeply impressed Babur. When Babur met Guru Ji, he recognized His spiritual power and humbly accepted his errors. Guru Ji showed Babur the way of truth, justice, and humanity, compelling the mighty ruler to reflect on his wrongs. This event illustrates that the power of truth and dharma can humble even the greatest oppressors.

ਸਿੱਖ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਜੇਲ੍ਹ (ਜਾਂ ਕੈਦ) ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਕੱਟੀ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਵਾਕਿਆ 1520 ਈਸਵੀ ਦੇ ਆਸ-ਪਾਸ ਵਾਪਰਿਆ ਜਦੋਂ ਬਾਬਰ ਨੇ ਸੈਦਪੁਰ (ਹੁਣ ਏਮਨਾਬਾਦ, ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਨੇੜੇ) ਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਬੇਰਹਿਮੀ ਨਾਲ ਕਤਲੇਆਮ ਕੀਤਾ। ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਉੱਥੇ ਭਾਈ ਲਾਲੋ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਠਹਿਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਬਾਬਰ ਦੀ ਫੌਜ ਨੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਕੈਦ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ। ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਸਿੱਖ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਸ਼ਖਸੀਅਤ ਬਣੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਜੇਲ੍ਹ ਕੱਟੀ, ਅਤੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਨਾਲ ਬਾਬਰ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਝੁਕਣਾ ਪਿਆ – ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਗਲਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੈਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

ਇਸ ਵੀਡੀਓ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿੱਖ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਬਾਬਰ ਨੂੰ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜੇਲ੍ਹ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਤੇ ਸੱਚ ਦੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਤੋਰਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਬਾਬਰ ਦੇ ਜ਼ੁਲਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਬਾਬਰਵਾਣੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਲ੍ਹਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਂ ਤੇ ਨਿਆਂ ਮੰਗਿਆ। ਜੇਲ੍ਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਜਾਰੀ ਰੱਖੀ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਬਾਬਰ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਿਤ ਹੋਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਵੱਡੀ ਆਤਮਿਕ ਤਾਕਤ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨਿਆ। ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਬਾਬਰ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਚ, ਨਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਤਾ ਦਾ ਰਾਹ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਅਪਰਾਧਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਸੋਚਣ ਲਈ ਮਜਬੂਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਇਹ ਵਾਕਿਆ ਦਰਸਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸੱਚ ਅਤੇ ਧਰਮ ਦੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਨਾਲ ਵੱਡੇ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਹਾਕਮ ਵੀ ਝੁਕ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
