Saudi Discovers Massive Gold Reserves As MBS Looks to Diversify Oil Economy

State-owned mining company Ma’aden says it has added 7.8 million ounces of gold through fresh exploration at four mining sites. These remote mining projects and deposit zones are located in the mineral-rich Arabian Shield. The biggest addition comes from the Mansourah Massarah project, already Saudi Arabia’s flagship gold mine. The other sites are Uruq 20/21, Umm As Salam, and Wadi Al Jaww. The discovery supports Saudi Arabia’s push to diversify its economy beyond oil under Vision 2030, led by Crown Prince MBS. With gold prices high, the find could be worth tens of billions of dollars over time.
