Delusional Optimism - 2017 - Episode 47

Описание: Today, I’m going to talk about one of those traits entrepreneurs have that confuses the rest of the world: delusional optimism. This trait is also referred to as vision or mental distortional field, but I like delusional optimism the best.

Delusional optimism is the total inability or unwillingness to look at the reality of the situation because the vision of what you want is so much greater and clearer in your mind. This manifests itself when entrepreneurs ignore the obstacles or view obstacles as an opportunity to get better rather than slow them down. Other people may say that you should be reasonable. But entrepreneurs deal with delusional optimism, not reason. They deal in vision, the big picture, a can-do mindset, and the philosophy that says, “I’m going to figure it out.”

Everyone else is trying to make sure they are never embarrassed and look good in front of people all the time. The visionary entrepreneur doesn’t care about that stuff. What they care about is their vision, and they will do anything to make it happen. This is why most people in the world call them delusional.

Martin Luther King, Jr. was called delusional. Churchill, Gandhi, Mandel, Mother Teresa, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, and anyone else who you would consider a leader in the world all had delusional optimism about their vision. Until you gain a delusional optimism about your vision, you’re putting a lid on your capacity to influence the world. If you’re prepared to put yourself out there, understand that it’s not going to be easy. You’re going to have to course correct along the way, and see every obstacle as an opportunity. Once you adopt delusional optimism, your vision will be stronger than any obstacle that comes your way, and nothing will be able to stop you.
