Welcome to 'Thermodynamics for Biological Systems Classical & Statistical Aspect' course !
This lecture addresses the challenges of solving Newton's equations of motion analytically in MD simulations due to the complex nature of the potential energy function. It introduces the concept of numerical integration methods to approximate solutions for the positions and velocities of particles over time. The lecture focuses on two commonly used integration algorithms: the Leapfrog algorithm and the Velocity Verlet algorithm. These algorithms use the current positions, velocities, and forces to estimate the positions and velocities at the next time step.
