this cake has been on my spirit for a couple weeks, i finally figured it out (thanks for telling me to make it boozy, @stovetopkisses 😂). if you don't like rum, use what ya like!

3 cans peach halves, drained; liquid reserved
1 cup brown sugar
1 box yellow cake mix
1 1/2 cups milk
2 eggs
5 tbsp unsalted butter
1 cup dark rum
1 cup sugar

1️⃣ Preheat oven to 350F. Use 1 tbsp of butter to generously grease a 9 x 13 pan and sprinkle brown sugar evenly across the bottom. Layer in peaches, cut side down.
2️⃣ In a medium bowl, beat together cake mix, milk and eggs until well combined. Pour batter over peaches and bake for 40-50 minutes, until middle is set. Let cool 10 minutes before pouring on syrup.
3️⃣ In a small pot, combine remaining 4 tbsp butter, rum and sugar. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture thickens, about 10 minutes. Set aside and let cool to room temperature.
4️⃣ Pour the syrup over the cake and let soak for at least 1 hour before serving. Invert cake onto serving platter.
