The LGBTQ+ Archive of the North West is a new collaborative heritage project bringing together archives, museums, libraries, universities, artists and LGBTQ+ communities across the region.
This film introduces the vision: to uncover, safeguard and share LGBTQ+ histories that are currently dispersed, hidden or at risk of being lost. From mapping existing collections to capturing living memories and translating archive material into creative work, the project aims to strengthen what already exists while building a joined-up regional approach.
The Archive will not remove heritage from local areas. Instead, it will make collections more visible, accessible and connected, creating a clear gateway for research, learning and public engagement.
