Well you guys have been hounding me to tow with the 2.7L Ecoboost engine and I finally got ahold of one. And this 2.7L twin turbo charged V6 did not disappoint!!

So for most of the towing run I was comparing this engine to the 2.7L Turbomax from GM because well they are the same displacment both turbo charged engine and now both the base model engine for their respective trucks.

the 2.7L turbomax did seem to struggle on my towing loop whereas this 2.7L ecoboost with the same relative amount of power did not struggle in fact it really surprised me how well this engine performed.

By no means is this 2.7L ecoboost engine the best towing engine in the segment but for its small displacement and the fuel economy you get with this engine it tow extremely well and just got the job done.

whereas the 2.7L turbomax in the chevy 1500's just did not feel comfortable with this much weight and these speeds on the highway. so at least on my towing loop this 2.7L ecoboost was a better engine.
